Well, I made it. One month into the no spend for six months challenge. I have to admit, I am pretty impressed with myself for sticking to the rules. The following are products used up:

That is a total of $305 worth of product used up. Obviously, these were not new or unopened products on February 1st. My main goal, other than saving money, is to move out products that are older, more than halfway used up, and probably past their expiration date. I have a terrible habit of “collecting” beauty products and I am hoping this challenge will help me create new, better, habits. This is also focusing me to use products I only used one time, had indifferent feelings about, and never picked up again. My not being able to just go out and replace it with something else, I am forced to use it a few times before deciding if it is a product I can actually use up, or if it is better off going in the trash or into someone else’s hand.

I did purchase 2 items totaling $13.95. About 1 week in, I realized the backup I had for my Benefit Brow gel was actually the wrong shade and I was completely out of brown gel altogether. After trying to make other items in my collection do that job, brow crayons, brow wax, clear mascara gel… all total fails, I purchased NXY control freak clear brow gel and NXY Tinted Brow Mascara. I went to Target instead of Sephora, because I knew I would be able to find something much less inexpensive that would do the job. And guess what, I was right. These products, both less than $7 each, work great and are items I would definitely repurchase.

Let me know if you would like to see reviews on any of the products I went through this month or if you would like to see a post on what I would buy again 🙂
