Two Months in – Four More to Go
Let me start by saying that this is not getting any easier, only harder. And I caved. But only a little.
Overall, I am still pretty proud of the amount of products I am using up and not just because it is helping contain my spending. It is also helping me clear out a lot of older products, some that I didn’t even realize had expired! One product was purchased at a beauty outlet store, so word to the wise, check the expiration date before purchasing at outlets.
I also went through a TON of skincare over the past two months and was out of a decent amount of products I use daily. After doing a bit of research, another thing I seem to be doing more of since I am more conscious of what exactly I am spending my money on, I picked out some new K-Beauty products from Glow Recipe. A friend of mine gave me a 15% off code and they also offer curated sets that are discounted. With the discount, I saved $81 and walked away with 6 items (listed below). I’ll also link a discount code for anyone that wants to try out Glow Recipe. Sephora actually sells a lot of the same items, but rarely offers a discount on any of them. They were also featured on Shark Tank!
With the realization that I was down to my last bottle of foundation, I decided to grab a backup for when this one runs out. Nothing is worse that getting ready in the morning, putting on your foundation, only to run out with half a face done! I am currently using Armani Power Fabric, but decided to go back to MUFE HD foundation. I made this decision mostly because I think they are very similar formulas, but MUFE is $21 cheaper. BTW, both of these foundations are Allure Beauty award winners and contain the same amount of product. Maybe this challenge is actually doing some good for me!
The only impulse spending I did in any of my “No Buy” categories was at Express. They were having a crazy sale for 3 days where every item on clearance was only $15. I have been doing a bit of spring cleaning since I started this challenge, not just with beauty products but also with clothes/ shoes/ winter coats/ purses…. I was able to sell some of my items at resale shops (Platos Closet, Clothes Mentor, etc.) or online at Poshmark. I have also donated items I couldn’t sell, but felt like I would never use/ wear again. When I saw the clothing on clearance, it was almost too ridiculous not to scoop up something. I ended up purchasing 13 items for $220. The items purchased are listed below in my spending breakdown.
